THE ENGINE

To overcome the problem of short flight times and low payload capacity Ewatt Aerospace have equipped the EWZ-242 with a patented 20 horsepower two-strokeengine developed in EWATT’s Italian R&D office.

The unique design and dampening precautious make the power unit extremely reliable and powerful while keeping the vibrations to levels lower than those of electric motors.

EXPANDED FLIGHT TIMES

Most modern multirotor UAVs are electric powered and are incapable of more than 30 minutes of flight time. They routinely suffer in cold environments where the flight time of battery-powered aircraft decreases drastically. Those limitations impede the functionality and reliability of traditional UAVs.

The EWZ-242 quadcopter powered by the revolutionary new engine is capable of a flight time over 120 minutes giving it an extended range of operational area and increased productivity in all weather conditions.

With increased flight time and payload capacity the EWZ-242 is perfectly suited to serve in both security and industrial applications such as BVLOS surveillance, visual support of ground missions, ISR, mid-weight cargo transportation, agriculture, and critical infrastructure monitoring

PAYLOAD CAPACITY

Thanks to the powerful state-of-the-art engine EWZ-242 offers a significantly larger payload capacity than traditional electric drones. This gives the EWZ-242 wide functionality to integrate and carry heavy weight sensors, multiple sensors and other payload systems such as crops (delete s) spraying systems, cargo carriers and others.

FLIGHT OPERATION

The modular design allows for transportation in just a single case. Despite the increase in payload capability and flight time the EWZ-242 can still be easily assembled and disassembled and be ready to fly in a matter of minutes. The EWZ-242 uses an advanced flight controller which allows the UAV to autonomously complete most sophisticated and demanding missions. With an operational range of 7 Km (with the primary system) increasing to 40 Km (with a tracking antenna) the EWZ-242 is a great asset for long-range assignments. In order to ensure manoeuvrability and reliability, the EWZ-242 has been equipped with the new variable pitch propellers. During flight, the aircraft is able to self–stabilize and correct its position even in challenging weather conditions. At the same time, employing the variable pitch increases aircraft flight efficiency.

MAINTENANCE AND DURABILITY

The material used in the design and construction of the EWZ-242 is robust and is capable of withstanding standard flight stresses as well as occasional rough landings. In the event of an unlikely part replacement being required the EWZ-242 has a modular frame and parts can easily be replaced.
